THE NAZARITE CHALLENGE

The Nazarite Challenge started with a simple goal: challenge men to dedicate themselves to the Lord.

Each year, thousands of men participate in the Nazarite Challenge. It has been truly inspiring and humbling to be a part of.

The stories of life change and renewal we heard were INCREDIBLE. Stories of marriages saved, of men coming back to the Sacraments for the first time in years, of men who entered into RCIA because of their experience of community through the Nazarite Challenge, and many more.

Because of the life altering choices we have seen take place during past Nazarite Challenges we wanted to take time in 2019 to focus very intentionally on Discernment.

THE WORLD NEEDS MORE NAZARITES

Lots of people think not shaving for the good of others is a recent trend – it’s not.  The Christian and Hebrew traditions are filled with men who set themselves apart by not shaving. Samson, Paul, and many others lived as Nazarites – either temporarily or for their entire life.

Nazarites are men who set themselves apart and dedicate themselves to the Lord in three ways: abstaining, avoiding impurity and not shaving.

We think the world could use a few more Nazarites, and this November we want you to be one of them.

IT TAKES COMMITMENT

We’ve built this challenge around 5 commitments related to community, prayer, beards, abstaining and evangelizing.  Taking the Nazarite Challenge means embracing all 5 of these commitments as explained below.

This is not going to be easy, but if Samson can slay a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an ass, surely you can do this.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Taking on a commitment like this is not easy, and it’s not one you should do alone.  Which is why we want to help.

When you sign up to take the Nazarite Challenge, we’re going to invest in your success by:

Connecting you with other men around the world who are taking on this challenge.
Providing you with the official Nazarite Challenge prayer, so that we can pray in solidarity with one another.
Sending you reflections and encouragement multiple times a week from Catholic priests, brothers, and laymen.
Leading the exchange of real world ideas for living out and sharing the faith in your daily life.
THE 5 COMMITMENTS

Stop Shaving
During the month of November, letting your beard grow will be a physical sign of your commitment.
Abstain and Avoid

Share Your Faith
Our baptismal call is to share the Gospel, and this November we’re committing to taking the call more seriously.
